Mascarade Song Recital

The Mascarade song recital series at the British Institute Library (Lungarno Guicciardini, 9) continues with a concert of songs with Florentine links from Rossini’s Serate Musicali, some wonderfully atmospheric Respighi, Liszt’s beautiful settings for tenor voice of the Petrarch Sonnets. This is a one-hour programme with Mascarade singers accompanied by Artistic Director Julia Lynch at the piano.

Friday 1 December 

Palazzo Tornabuoni 

6.30pm - Welcome and pre-performance talk by the Director of The Sacred Music Programme, Mark Spyropoulos, followed by an open Masterclass with world-renowned soprano Dame Emma Kirkby and soloists of Vox Medicea and  Mascarade Opera.

7.30pm – Special presentation of a privately owned ‘St John the Baptist’ by Caravaggio,with a performance by Vox Medicea in honour of the masterpiece.

9pm - GALA DINNER AT CANTINETTA ANTINORI

Saturday 2 December

Afternoon - Lecture and tour of Florentine Medici monuments with historian and Medici scholar, Rose Byfleet.

7 pm - Pre-concert reception

8 pm - SACRED MASTERPIECES OF THE MEDICI - concert by Vox Medicea with the English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble featuring first performance of works unheard for over 400 years.
