Professor Sigfried Gohritz is one of the leading voice teachers of his generation. His students regularly perform on the world’s largest stages including Teatro La Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper unter den Linden, Wiener Staastoper, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Teatro Real and the MET, and have one major competitions such as the Cardiff Singer of the World and the International Vocal Competition's-Hertogenbosch.
Before becoming Head of Opernstudio Thüringen in 2017, a post he still holds, he was Head of Department for Conducting, Voice and Opera at Hochschule für Musik ‘Franz Liszt’ Weimar.
He is a regular guest lecturer at Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid and has given masterclasses at many prestigious music conservatoires including the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalan, Barcelona, Conservatorio di Musica di Bologna and Conservatorio di Musica di Palermo. Born in Gehren/Thüringen, Gohritz was a sought after lyric baritone in former East Germany before becoming a voice teacher.
He is passionate about equestrian sport, boxing and cooking.
