Inspiring the next generation

Florence Choral Course 2025

in association with The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble

We are excited to announce next year's Florence Choral Course will take place from Sunday July 6th - Sunday July 12th.

The Florence Choral Course, the annual summer programme run by New Generation Foundation, is dedicated to the study, performance and promotion of the Italian Renaissance choral tradition for aspiring professional choral singers.

This week-long advanced summer training program for aspiring young choral singers is the only course in the world entirely dedicated to the music of the Italian Renaissance.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, this program is offered completely free of charge to all participants under 30.

Up to 40 selected singers from around the world will be invited to Florence for this unique opportunity, which includes an intensive schedule of:

- Daily rehearsals
- Choral technique workshops
- Individual singing lessons
- Tours and history lectures
- Masterclasses with world-renowned practitioners, including soprano Dame Emma Kirkby and theorbist Francesco Romano.

The Course takes place in the historic Palazzo Corsini al Prato, in the heart of Florence, and culminates in performances in some of the city's most iconic buildings.

Instrumental Courses (July 9th-12th)
Sackbuts and Cornetts: A shorter course for young sackbut and cornett players will be run by the celebrated English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble alongside the Choral Course.

Lutes and Theorbos: For the first time, we will also host a course for theorbos and lutes led by the celebrated lutenist Maestro Francesco Romano.

Applicants Over 30
While the course is primarily designed to support young emerging artists, we also have limited places available for older singers. The course fee for participants over 30 is €1000.

Fifth Anniversary Celebration
2026 marks our fifth anniversary. To celebrate, we will bring together all participants for a special performance of Alessandro Striggio’s epic 40-part motet: Ecce Beatam Lucem.
