PRESS RELEASE
Mascarade Opera continues its Spring 2026 season at Palazzo Corsini al Prato with Fantasiestücke
On 21 March, a concert dedicated to German Romanticism featuring music by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms
Florence, 13 March 2026 – Mascarade Opera’s Spring 2026 season at Palazzo Corsini al Prato continues with Fantasiestücke, taking place on Saturday 21 March in the Concert Hall of the historic Florentine palace. The programme is dedicated to the German Romantic repertoire and conceived to highlight the intimate dimension of chamber music.
The title Fantasiestücke (“Fantasy Pieces”) recalls Robert Schumann’s celebrated collection of the same name and gives its name to a programme that moves through works by Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert and Schumann himself. Pieces for piano, violin, clarinet and voice place at the centre the dialogue between instruments and the expressive power of nineteenth-century music.
On stage will be Julia Lynch, pianist and Artistic Director of Mascarade Opera, alongside violinist Tijmen Huisingh, first violin of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, and emerging artists: clarinettist Lorenzo di Ionna and soprano Mariam Suleiman, an artist of the Mascarade Opera Emerging Artists Programme. The presence of established performers alongside young musicians reflects Mascarade Opera’s commitment to training and supporting the professional development of new generations of artists.
The programme opens with Brahms’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 120 No. 2, followed by Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen and Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, Op. 73, concluding with Brahms’s Trio, Op. 40 in a rare version for piano, violin and clarinet.
With Fantasiestücke, Mascarade Opera reaffirms its curatorial vision: not simply concerts, but projects born from residencies, mentorship and thoughtful programming choices, capable of producing performances of the highest artistic level. Palazzo Corsini al Prato is not merely a backdrop, but a place of musical creation and research — a space where interpretative rigour, performance excellence and careful attention to context come together to create high-quality cultural experiences for the city and for an international audience.
